We are blessed!

(Sorry about the spacing around the pictures. I am just learning this blogging thing!)

I meant to start a blog before our little angel's arrival, but I guess I got too big, swollen, and lazy to have the energy to write! See picture (taken on my due date). Now here we are, almost 5 months later and I finally did it. Little did I know that no matter how tired I thought I was at the end of my pregnancy, I was going to feel ten times more tired once our baby girl arrived. Currently, I am operating on 3 hours of sleep, so this post might not be the most entertaining of posts!

The purpose of this blog is to document and update our family and friends on the happenings in our lives. Mostly, the happenings in Emma Grace's life! I will quickly recap the last 4 1/2 months of our lives...

I sometimes have a hard time remembering life before Emma. It seems so long ago and life is so much more meaningful now. Life was already great! Being married to your soul mate is indescribable. But, producing a child with your soul mate can only be described as a miracle from God. She arrived on 9/10/09, one day after her due date. She was 9 lbs. 1 oz. and 22 inches long. Since then, she has grown like a weed! She is currently off the charts in height (surprise, surprise!) and in the 96th percentile in weight.

Emma has been a quick learner when it comes to physical things. She started smiling at 5 weeks old. I will NEVER forget that moment that I was sitting on the couch with her, we locked eyes, and those tiny little corners of her mouth started moving up. It took my breath away. That was the start of the happiest baby on the block! The only thing that stops this baby from smiling is getting sick. And, boy, has she gotten sick! More on that later. Emma rolled over both ways at 3 months, which is also pretty early! She scoots herself across the floor when you're not looking. She squeals with delight (especially when she sees Daddy!). The one thing I have been not so patiently waiting for is to hear that laugh! I will be sure to write when it happens.

Emma has experienced a lot in her short life! She has been to many Broncos tailgates, a Broncos game, a Nuggets game, the Stock Show/Rodeo, many Columbine High School basketball games, holiday parties, meals out (weekly breakfast with Great Grandma and Great Grandad), and Christmas. She has had MANY visitors from all of you and feels so loved.

Emma has been mostly a very healthy baby. Until about a month ago! She started with a bad bout of pink eye that came and went in both eyes TWICE. That was accompanied by a cold that lasted a couple weeks. About 2 weeks ago, her cough started getting deeper and noisier. I started to worry so I took her into the pediatrician to get checked out. She was RSV positive and, long story short, ended up in the hospital for a week! That was the worst week of my life. I stayed with her and experienced a sort of helplessness I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. That poor little thing was SO sick and it was so scary. She was discharged on Friday and we were back at the ER on Saturday to find out that she has a double ear infection. UGH! When will this baby girl get a break? Hopefully she is now on the mend.

Well, I better end this now because Emma is waking up from a nap and we are off to see the pediatrician again! I hope you all enjoy our new blog and come back to visit often:)
